sure look inviting, taking my hand
needed to find my way back
fake people with complications
almost wrecked my self-assurance
nice to be here, you help me dream
of far-out groovy places
again.

I love the line “fake people with complications …' good job on the prompt.
I like that.
This feels like an honest, heart-felt conversation. I also like the last line. It reminds me of the Brady Bunch (I was a 70's child too, so I watched a fair amount of that show!)
This was dreamy.
Thank you. I liked the phrase you used with it, 'blast from the past'. I explained to Draug above, I don't say 'far-out' but I do use 'groovy' in my every day talking due to growing up hearing my aunt and cousins use the term, as well as my mom. I also lived for Saturday morning cartoons, with our 3 stations, and watched Scooby Doo a lot. 🙂
Thanks. I don't say 'far-out'. I do however use the word 'groovy' in everyday talk. Born in '76 and raised in by my grandparents, I heard my aunt and several cousins use that word a lot. So, over the years it stuck with me. Even in the early '90's, my high school years. I may have been born a era too late. lol
far out and groovy places, what a blast from the past. I like the humanity in this piece. That awkwardness of that phrase really shows how the person has got much to heal.
This is fun (: I like it.
Great-hopeful sentiment in this piece. It hit home with me. Nicely done.
Lovely piece Donetta! I adore the last couple of lines. Great use of the prompt!
I love to dream of far out groovy places.
Far-out groovy. Far out! Have missed that saying. Something that feels real and honest in a fake world is what I take from your writing…which is wonderful!
