In the end, it was I who decided
to accelerate toward the wild storm.
Glancing back, but only once, for a split second,
trying to remember what the sunshine meant.
My gaze turned to you though,
as it always did, studying your gorgeous jawline.
Mind racing at the excitement
and fear I felt, knowing you weren’t afraid.
Understood then that you would let me go.
Leave me behind as you moved forward.
Maybe that thought alone, is what made me
nod my head in approval, smiling at you,
allowing you to drive me into the darkness,
with only bolts of terror tearing through the night.
