3 Word Resolutions





Remember To Breathe

I chose these 3 for various reasons.  It’s sorta like “stop to smell the roses.”  This past year has flown by so fast and sometimes I forget the good while in a rush to make tomorrow good.  I also have anxiety attacks that are horrible bad, so in therapy, we’re taught to focus on something, inhale, exhale, and inhale again.  Then there’s a funny side to these 3 words for me, because I have several tattoos and some hurt. lol.  I can’t remember a time while in pain that I haven’t held my breath and had my best friend saying to me, “Just breathe.”  So, for 2014, my resolution and hope is to “Remember To Breathe.”

  1. It sounds so simple but life can be so overwhelming. It amazes me when I find a moment and focus on just taking a breath. happy new year Deana!

    Whoa! This is so me. And then I panic about what I've missed out on while focusing on tomorrow. Thank you for the great reminder to slow down and live in the moment.

    I like that you choose 3 words – I am finding it nigh impossible to just pick One Word.

  11. Outstanding! I learned this lesson by riding horses. If I get the least bit tense, I stop breathing and my horse stiffens up. He's a giant bio-feedback machine. I now carry this over to every part of my life and it's amazing how much tension just melts away when you remember to breathe.

  19. It does help. It's hard to explain to someone who has never had one. I started having them in high school and wondered if I should talk to someone, but then brushed it off that probably all high school students felt like that at some point. My grandparents raised me. So, as they got worse, turns out my mom suffered from them and other things. She actually got me into treatment and things. Tattoos can be somewhat addicting. Have a wonderful New Year!

When I was younger, I'd watch my grandfather sit under a tree and whittle a stick down to nothing with his knife and throw his hands up at our neighbors he'd known his entire life and I was young and bored. Now, I can see the greatness in being able to sit for a Sunday and just think.

  27. I love this, Donetta! I too suffer from anxiety, and breathing, and focusing on a “safe place” really help.

  30. I'm going to adopt this as my secondary resolution. I also have anxiety attacks and (I hope you don't mind if) I recommend a book that helps me: Yoga for Emotional Balance by Bo Forbes. It is not about active yoga. It teaches a way to stop, relax and breathe.
