New Year Sparks

Just the right make-up,
curls messily pulled back
to reveal my neckline.
Trace of Tarea perfume
that lingers after my touch.
Children aren’t home,
crossing my fingers
you will be soon.
The gods were jealous
of our once burning desire.
Searching my closet,
your favorite lingerie
that left you on fire.
Too many lonely nights
with blame wedged between us.
My New Year resolution
to bring back the sparks
so your eyes are only for me.
May the gods’ eyes turn green.
