Charles Bukowski

One of my favorite quotes by Charles Bukowski.

The Prompts:

1. Share a 10th grade memory.
2. Look into your archives. What were you blogging about a year ago around this time? Are you still dealing with the same thing? Your thoughts?
3. Write a blog post inspired by the word: falling.
4. Book review!
5. 10 things you love about Spring.
6. Share a quote you love.
7. Spring Cleaning! Share a before and after photo of a room you recently tackled.

“We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state,  and our educational system.  We are here to drink beer.   We are here to kill war.   We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.”

Forgive and Forget

”Was it you that killed me, or did I kill you?”

Abel answered, “I don’t remember anymore; here we are, together, like before.”

“Now I know that you have truly forgiven me,” Cain said, “because forgetting it forgiving. I, too, will try to forget.”
{Jorge Luis Borges – Legend  –  Translated by Andrew Hurley}

Word Crush Wednesday 1

Stumbled across a blog that has a challenge on Wednesdays to post a awesome quote for the week. Here’s my 1st Word Crush Wednesday.

Whoever coined the phrase ‘a man has to play the cards he’s dealt’ was definitely a piss poor buffer.”

Jeanette Walls – The Glass Castle

This was chosen for Word Crush Wednesday

Forgetting is Forgiving

“Was it you that killed me, or did I kill you?”  Abel answered. “I don’t remember any more; here we are, together, like before”

“Now I know that you have truly forgiven me,” Cain said, “because forgetting is forgiving.  I, too, will try to forget.”

Quotes for Mama Kat’s Writing Workshop

This is one of my favorite quotes.  I read it in Jeannette Walls’ memoir “The Glass Castle”.  It has been several years since reading the book, and at least twice, re-reading.  One of my favorite memoirs.  This quote is inspiring to me.  I have always heard the phrase, “that’s the cards I was dealt.”  So, to me, this quote speaks volumes.  I suppose if you look at life as if you’re giving certain cards and have to play your hand, learn to bluff.  “Fake it til you make it” type mentality.

This quote come to mind because of Autumn and I love how optimistic this sounds.  My favorite season is summer.  Autumn is spectacular where I live though and I love the crisp breeze, the many colors, and just the feel of Fall.

These quotes were written for Mama Kat’s Writing Workshop.  Enjoy.
